About Me

Hello! I’m Jenna Cooper, a 36-year-old chef, proudly born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina—a cozy city nestled right in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Ever since childhood, my happiest memories have revolved around cooking, especially the delicious aromas and warm laughter that spilled from my Aunt Evelyn’s kitchen every Sunday afternoon.

My love for cooking didn’t begin in a fancy culinary school, but rather at home, standing on a stool to reach the countertop, helping Mom and Aunt Evelyn roll out buttery biscuit dough or sneaking a spoonful of Dad’s famous chili (which, by the way, I’m still trying to perfect). Cooking was never a chore for me; it was always an adventure, an exciting experiment with whatever fresh ingredients our garden or pantry had to offer.

As a teenager, I took my first restaurant job washing dishes in a bustling local diner. In between scrubbing pans and plates, I’d eagerly watch the cooks flip pancakes, grill burgers, and whip up gravy from scratch. It wasn’t glamorous, but those days taught me teamwork, patience, and resilience—and how to laugh off the occasional burnt pancake or kitchen mishap (trust me, I’ve had plenty!).

After finishing high school, I set off on a journey across the United States, exploring and tasting the incredible variety of American cuisine. I savored everything from sweet lobster rolls on the coast of Maine to authentic Texas barbecue and hearty, spicy gumbo in Louisiana. Each experience inspired me, showing me how simple, fresh ingredients could transform into something magical with a bit of creativity and courage.

Returning home to Asheville, I felt inspired to share what I learned, especially with beginners and home cooks who might find cooking intimidating. I genuinely believe cooking doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated—it should be joyful, approachable, and filled with delightful surprises. My kitchen philosophy is simple: cook boldly, season generously, and never be afraid to experiment or make mistakes.

Today, I spend my days teaching relaxed cooking classes, writing easy-to-follow recipes, and creating approachable cooking videos designed to build confidence and ignite excitement in anyone who wants to cook. Whether you’re just frying your very first egg or bravely hosting your first family dinner, I believe everyone deserves to feel comfortable, creative, and joyful in their kitchen.

I’m here to encourage you, laugh with you when things go hilariously wrong, and celebrate every delicious victory—no matter how small. So put on your favorite apron, grab your wooden spoon, and let’s cook up something wonderful together!
