Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  • Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and let cool slightly.
  • Mix the brown sugar and granulated sugar into the melted butter until smooth.
  • Beat the eggs separately and mix them into the butter-sugar mixture along with the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze individually wrapped pieces for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for 10 seconds before serving.
