Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and then cool slightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract to the sugar and egg mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually fold in the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add the powdered sugar until fully blended.
  • Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out evenly.
  • Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the chocolate batter.
  • Pour the remaining chocolate batter over the cream cheese layer and use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the chocolate batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack for complete cooling before cutting into bars.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Don't skip cooling the bars for improved flavor and texture. Use high-quality cocoa for richer taste.
