- 2 ripe bananas mashed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter or oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon optional
- salt pinch
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) if baking, or heat oil to 350°F if frying.
Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
Add the egg, sugar, and melted butter or oil. Whisk until combined.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
Fold dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
For baked donuts: Spoon batter into a greased donut pan and bake 12–15 minutes until golden.
For fried donuts: Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
Place on a cooling rack and glaze, frost, or sprinkle with sugar as desired.
For a healthier version, bake instead of frying.
Add chocolate chips, nuts, or shredded coconut for variation.
Best enjoyed warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
