For the donuts:
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened
- Oil for frying
For the strawberry frosting:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp strawberry puree or jam
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- pink food coloring optional
- Sprinkles
In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add sugar, eggs, flour, salt, and butter. Mix until dough forms.
Knead for 5 minutes, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Roll dough to ½-inch thickness, cut with a donut cutter, and let rest 30 minutes.
Heat oil to 350°F in a large pot. Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Transfer to cooling rack.
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and milk until smooth.
Dip cooled donuts into frosting, twist to coat, and top with sprinkles.
Allow glaze to set before serving.
For a healthier option, bake donuts at 375°F for 10–12 minutes instead of frying.
Frosting thickness can be adjusted by adding more sugar (for thicker) or more milk (for thinner).
Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
