Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¾ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup fresh raspberries or raspberry preserves
  • ½ cup sliced almonds

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together.
  • Add softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in almond extract until the dough comes together.
  • Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the baking pan.
  • Spread fresh raspberries or raspberry preserves evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle sliced almonds over the raspberry layer.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.

Notes

Use high-quality butter for richer flavor. Experiment with different fruits and nut toppings. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days.
