Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamo
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups apple (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2-3 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ¾ cup of sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • In another bowl, mix the chopped apples with 1 tablespoon of flour.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the eggs, vanilla extract, sour cream, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth.
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Fold in the floured apples until evenly distributed.
  • Scoop the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • While the bread is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth for the glaze. Adjust consistency if needed.
  • Once the bread is completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top. Slice and enjoy.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, consider using freshly grated nutmeg. Mix sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor.
