  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until there are no lumps.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla and almond extracts.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.
  • Fold in the chopped strawberries gently.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
