Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and granulated sugar together.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Carefully fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full.
  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean with a few crumbs.
  • Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
