  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently.
  • Fold in the cherry pie filling and chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the batter into your prepared pan, smoothing it out evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. Don’t overmix to keep the cake fluffy. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
